Stephen Hamill has taken an active part in the musical
life of Northern Ireland over the past twenty five years, both as a soloist and
as an accompanist to several of the Province's leading choirs. He has given
solo recitals at several prestigious venues including Hexham Abbey in
Northumberland, St. Paul's Cathedral London and St Patrick's Cathedral New
York. He has accompanied services at York Minster, Exeter Cathedral and St John
the Divine, New York, and has also directed visiting choirs at St. Alban's
Abbey and Southwark Cathedral. He has played with many instrumental ensembles
here in Northern Ireland including the Ulster Orchestra, and has also played
Holst's Planets organ part at one hour's notice with the Royal Liverpool
Philharmonic Orchestra in Newcastle. Stephen broadcasts regularly for both
television and radio, having clocked up over one hundred broadcasts in the last
twenty five years. Ulster Television followed him to St. Paul's for his recital
there in 1988, and this was the core material for a half-hour documentary
entitled "All in a day's recital" which was broadcast in 1992.
